NAMIDABASHI LAB.
We are consultants for health system strengthening in the developing worlds. We perform different services for technical cooperation or financial aid projects, including designing, managing, and evaluating. Through our services, we aim to provide process consultation and create a space for dialogue in health development and system strengthening matters, considering the sense of safety.

Work with Us

We have experiences in consultation for international health cooperation across designing, managing and evaluating the project. Integrating different knowledge and experiences from these three elements is one of our advantages. Each of them provides different views on the project plan and implementation. The integration can help see the project’s whole figures and surroundings more.

Designing

“Whole-System Approach” – this is our preferred designing and planning approach. In this approach, we make efforts to have a view to the whole system. It can support us, stakeholders and well-wishers to co-create our collective solutions effectively in an environment with volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity and reduce the chance of excluding underrepresented groups’ views.

Managing

We use “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)” as a source of information for project management. We integrate a human rights-based approach into it to seek to recognize the project process and impacts on inequalities, discriminatory practices and unjust distributions of power that lie at the heart of development problems and impede development progress.

Evaluating

Our keys for evaluation activities are flexibility and awareness of the whole range of approaches. There are many evaluation designs to choose from, and different methods suit different questions, and different circumstances. In particular, in international cooperation, the constraints on evaluation design and appropriate methodological choices are more significant.

Work for Health System Strengthening

Namidabashi Lab. work for health system strengthening in developing worlds to maximize the impacts, efficiency and sustainability of the interventions.

Health systems strengthening is about permanently making the systems function better, not just filling gaps or supporting the systems to produce better short-term outcomes. The intervention to strengthen the system goes beyond providing inputs and applies to more than one building health system block; 1) service delivery, 2) health workforce, 3) health information systems, 4) access to essential medicines, 5) financing, 6) leadership/governance, and 7) community engagement.

WHO pointed out “a well-functioning health system working in harmony is built on having trained and motivated health workers, a well-maintained infrastructure, and a reliable supply of medicines and technologies, backed by adequate funding, strong health plans and evidence-based policies“, and “at the same time, because of the interconnectedness of our globalized world, health systems need to have the capacity to control and address global public health threats such as epidemic diseases and other severe events“.
